Just make sure your motherboard and BIOS are compatible with the new speeds. Enabling the XMP profile is essential for optimal performance. Whether it's worth it depends on your needs—higher capacity and speed can improve multitasking and gaming, but it also increases costs.

Choose a fresh look. A 16GB RAM is essentially unnecessary for most people, and requesting 32GB would be out of place. If you're not using the grass, upgrade your accessories or seating for comfort and style.
Certainly upgrading would make sense. You're increasing your RAM, which is something many people tend to cut back on. Most recommendations suggest 16 GB is sufficient, but do they consider all the background programs that accumulate over time? (RGB tools, game installers, system monitors, audio/video decoders, etc.) This doesn't include even simple multitasking such as a web browser running. You could stay very careful managing and removing anything that drains your memory, or you might just need enough space for your computer to function smoothly. Check Task Manager, navigate to the Performance section, and monitor memory usage over a day or a week to identify areas where additional space could improve speed and responsiveness.
They repeated the same points about 1GB hard drives, 2GB of VRAM, and a full gigabyte of RAM once. If there’s no other way to add more RAM now, it means fewer things to worry about when planning or budgeting later.
This approach is quite old-fashioned. Windows 11 and later versions are built to maximize memory usage when your main programs aren’t actively using it. Leftover space has no purpose, so the system stores recent or frequently accessed files in RAM and retrieves them quickly when needed. Windows excels at memory management far better than a user trying to future-proof such a flexible system. The demand for RAM has slowed down over time, especially with newer software not increasing memory needs as much as before. It makes little sense to invest now when you might never need it, and waiting could be risky if requirements change. Think about how people would react if told they needed a new upgrade for a 2600k when they never used it.
I attempted to upgrade with an additional 16 GB of the same RAM, but since it wasn't sold as a 32 GB package (probably), it prevented me from activating the XMP profile and locked the system at 2133 MHz regardless of my efforts.
Is it the same speed? That would inhibit the ability to enable XMP. It has to be the same rated speed, or you could do a custom profile. I've done it one a video editor friend of mine's computer with 4x8GB 3200mhz, but they were all the EXACT same rated speed as sold. But fr unless you're getting pinned to 15.7-16GB ram usage and seeing performance drops, there is no reason to get more RAM.
Windows will begin paging when RAM hits 60%. If, outside of gaming, you're utilizing over 70% of your memory, you'll notice a noticeable boost in speed and smoothness by increasing RAM. I'm nearing the limit and actually think it's worth pushing further. Considering how surprisingly affordable DDR4 is right now, I'd suggest going all in. I recommend Trident Z Royal because sparkols
