Improving the CPU performance
Improving the CPU performance
I purchased an i7-9700K and set it up. The issue is that my PC freezes after a few seconds when launching Windows. Is the chipset defective or should I update the BIOS? Since I recently reinstalled my older i5-8600K, it functions properly, but now the system crashes during game exits, requiring a restart and causing high temperatures upon booting.
Upgrade the BIOS, then reset the CMOS. Check if this resolves your problem; if it does, attempt the 9700k once more. Also, could you tell me the motherboard brand and model?
I’d consider returning the 9700K since it wasn’t a significant improvement over the 8600K after all... What made you switch? It doesn’t really offer much more performance for gaming compared to your previous CPU. If you’re not sure, maybe update your BIOS instead—otherwise, there should be no need for it if the motherboard has an incorrect BIOS.

Absolutely, you're correct. It seems like the issue might be with your monitor rather than your CPU. With a 1080 Ti GPU, switching to 1440p likely caused the bottleneck.
The CPU will set your maximum frames per second, so try running your GPU at lower resolutions like 480p or 720p to find its limit. For smoother 144hz or 240hz gameplay, focus more on the GPU. The 8600K should handle over 100fps in most AAA titles, though some engines or games may impose strict performance caps, such as in GTA V.
