Hi Guys,
I'm a bit confused about PC components right now. I'm unsure what's good or bad at the moment.
I want to run all the newest games on max'ish settings (for future-proofing) and make YouTube videos. The CPU should also handle rendering well.
Here’s my current setup:
CPU: I5 4690k
GPU: GTX 1070
Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 (MS-7917)
RAM: G Skill F3-17000CL11-4GBXL DDR3 x 4
Power Supply: 850W
I plan to upgrade the CPU and motherboard first. I have a budget of £1500, but I can go up to £2000 if needed.
Thanks in advance!

New RAM is needed. It's likely a fresh power supply too, especially if your current PSU is quite old. Could you tell me what model it is? Also, describe your current cooling setup.

Thank you for your message!
Your PC uses a Corsair RM 850, which is around three years old.
How does AMD compare to Intel CPUs? If you plan to render videos, would having a single core performance be more beneficial?
Also, could you suggest a top-rated PC case with strong cooling? I currently have an NZXT H440, but I’m not sure if it’s the best for cooling.
Thanks!

You can find AM5 mounting brackets from NZXT. It might be useful to wait for reviews of the 7900GRE before choosing a GPU; it’s estimated around £650, but the 7900XT starts at £730 and offers better value. These GPUs support 2k gaming and should last longer before needing a replacement.

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 106.1 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (Free)
Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI ATX AM5 (£191.71 @ Amazon UK)

Thanks for the question, yes an i7 would be more than sufficient right now. I'm planning to switch to a higher resolution monitor soon!
