I've just installed a new Skylake system with a 6600k and don’t have much cash left for a GPU. How can I best enhance the performance of my HD 530 graphics? While saving for a dedicated GPU, I’d like to make the most of what I have. It seems it runs smoothly on Tom’s Hardware’s site (http://www.tomshardw...00k,4252-9.html), though I’m struggling even with CS:GO. I have an 8GB RAM and updated drivers. Any tips on improving this without buying a new GPU?

The issue with integrated graphics is that for smooth gaming, you need at least low-med settings even on simple games. I haven’t used an IGPU personally, but I remember needing to lower the settings on every game to the minimum to achieve playable performance. Don’t forget to check out your post!

Focus on fine-tuning settings and updates. Use the right drivers, then upgrade to a newer GPU model.

Resolution? The majority of those tests ran at 1080p or below, with some even at 720p.

Thanks for the feedback. @ZombieLloyd I understand it's not perfect, but I'm targeting an ASUS Strix 970 with a focus on affordability. The video you shared looks quite good and matches my system specs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WGA473BOF0

Set it up for maximum benefit by configuring it properly; updating drivers is one option, though I’m not sure if I’ve done that myself. A 'dGPU' refers to a dedicated graphics processing unit.

Discrete graphics card is another way to refer to a separate GPU. You can adjust it and fine-tune game settings. No other options available.

Also check out titles that use CPUs paired with weaker integrated graphics—your setup should handle them just fine.
