Improved Spec Comparison – Ryzen 7 3800 XT vs Ryzen 7 5800X3D
Current specifications: processor Ryzen 7 3800 XT, graphics RTX 3080 FE AIO cooler, cooling fan EK AIO 240 Mobo, motherboard ASUS AMD AM4 ROG X570 Crosshair VIII, RAM Corsair Vengeance 32 GB DDR4 3600 MHz, power supply Seasonic Focus Gold (Plus) 850W. I’ve seen some discussions about this, but I’m curious what others think about upgrading from the 3800XT. The 5800X3D is now available on Amazon for around $322 (usually $449), so it’s worth checking if it’s a solid choice compared to the 3800XT. While the 7xxx lineup seems preferable right now, I’d need an AM5 motherboard too. For now, I’ll stick with AM4 as a temporary option, but plan to upgrade the board later. I’m currently using dual monitors—an Alienware 3440x1440 ultrawide at 120Hz and a LG 2560x1440 at 1440p—and mostly play games. Please share your thoughts or let me know if I missed anything.
For a gaming PC, the 5800X3D offers significant benefits. The expanded cache boost would lead to a clear improvement in speed.
