Improved Frames per Second using AMD FSR while maintaining Nvidia support
I currently own a 4070ti, 9800x3d, G-sync. In the past two games (Jedi Survivor and Forbidden West) I've observed improved frame rates when using AMD FSR. This seems contradictory since I have an Nvidia card. I expected DLSS or FrameGen to perform better? Probably depends on the game. I can admit this might be a simple question, so no need for harsh answers. Usually the CPU isn't a big factor in 4K gaming (1080/1440 is fine, it's more about the GPU). Does the 9800x3d affect AMD FSR performance? Just wondering if others with Nvidia cards experience better results?
It would function properly only with AMD graphics cards that match your CPU. It seems to work better when compared to other setups. I'm curious about how the video cable is connected.
FSR works with any GPU, it's designed to run across different graphics cards. The comparison between FSR and DLSS mainly depends on how each is built by the game developers. There are many situations where one outperforms the other, even when both are present. Visual quality is another point of contention, as it varies based on the developer and the specific version in use.
I've been corrected, thanks everyone. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks, that makes sense... (varies from game devs), just checking if I was being silly.
FSR doesn’t require an Nvidia GPU. It might work with the older 10 series GPUs I believe. I’m not sure if this will be affected when they release FSR 4.
