Hello everyone. My setup uses an i5 7500 with a GTX 1070, and in most games it caps the GPU at about 70%, which isn’t optimal. I’m considering switching to a Ryzen 3600 with an ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F for better performance, hoping to eventually get an RTX 3070. Is this a solid upgrade path, or could it limit the 3070’s potential? Also, regarding the Corsair V570, it’s been reliable for about four years, though I’ve had some issues with the wiring. Thanks for any advice!

For the U.S., I wouldn't suggest the 3600. It's significantly overpriced. A 11400f/10400f with a B560 board and 3200MHZ RAM would be more suitable.

This model also covers b560 and b460 variants. A new connector for both Intel and AMD releases is expected by late 2021 or early 2022, featuring DDR5 support.

the available connector for AMD is AM4, so don't be surprised when they introduce the AM5 version later this year or next. the current connector for Intel is LGA1200, which has been used for the 10th and now 11th generation processors, suggesting it may remain relevant until at least the 13th or 14th generation. neither should create a performance bottleneck with the 3070 or even the 40-series chips when they arrive. your main concern will be the power supply—it might not be powerful enough to run a 30-series card. i have an i7-8700k, an msi z370, a 2070 super, and one hdd. evgas power meter shows me 475 watts, so i’d recommend a psu with at least 500 watts, but this will only limit what you can actually get or add. give it a try yourself. evga - power meter
