How much did you boost your Ryzen 5 3600X? Overclocking can be exciting, though I’m not saying it’s the best idea. If you’ve pushed your CPU beyond its limits, let me know what you achieved. basically a 3600x is a well-tuned or binned 3600, and pbo works really well for reaching high frequencies at unusually low voltages compared to manual overclocking. that doesn’t mean it’s impossible—just consider this a straightforward all-core overclock at 4.4ghz with a voltage of about 1.425v. if it holds up in benchmarks, gradually lower the voltage; if it fails, reduce the frequency while monitoring temperatures. keep CPU temps under 90°C (95°C should be your upper limit during testing). most recommend starting higher and increasing slowly, but feel free to try the opposite—gradually raising the core clock from 4.2ghz and adjusting from there.

I applied the overclock using AiSuite 3. I began at 3.6, then increased gradually to 3.85 and beyond, reaching 4.325. The system crashed afterward, and the BIOS set the multiplier to 43.25x. Now it operates around 4.2-4.3 GHz.

The highest you'll typically reach is around 100MHz beyond the maximum boost, especially with standard 2600 and 3600 units.

I usually reach 4GHz smoothly on this board, but at 4.1 it often exceeds 100°C after roughly 45 seconds of testing (the cooler and paste aren't helping much).

I own a Thermaltake tower cooler from 2010. It features a round heat sink and an internal fan. It performs adequately, though it needs careful placement on the RAM—about 2mm above it—to avoid covering too much space.

The stock cooler focuses on quiet operation, which means it doesn’t provide strong cooling performance. Still, it’s great for keeping things calm, especially compared to louder components like the GPU.

The most noticeable sounds in my situation come from my 2010 Molex fans equipped with blue LEDs. In the office, the loudest noise is the 1999 120mm Molex fan inside my Phenom tower.

I just got my new 3600x and managed to reach 4.5GHz using a Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro-P MMO. The system has been stable so far—I ran a stress test for around 30 minutes and played for about 2 hours. The CPU voltage stayed between 1.26 and 1.27V, idle temps were 36-40°C, and it hit a peak of 65°C during the stress test. During the 4.6GHz run, the voltage was 1.296-1.308V, but the temperature spiked to around 10°C higher. I’m not sure if 4.6GHz is worth it yet; I left it at 4.5GHz for now. It’s possible a lower MHz with a higher base clock could give better performance, but I didn’t have time to test that.
