I picked up a Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 3000MHz DDR4 DRAM CL15 this week. This is an e-die kit. So fare stable timings are 16-19-17-17-36-56 1T @ 3600mhz 1.4v This will be the ram I use on my next build (zen 3). I have 32GB 4x8GB of XPG which is adata ram 3600mhz (rated out of the box) CJR memory that will do 16-19-19 @ 1.37v stable all day that will go back into this Ryzen 3600. This build was my original test Ryzen system that started with an R3 1200 a few years ago. I don't know if my B350 motherboard is the problem. When I go 3733mhz the system becomes unstable whether I use the XPG memory or the new E-die memory. Both will pass benchmark testing. I do not waste my time doing long winded memory testing because gaming is what makes the system hang, not the memory testing that goes for hours. My next build will have a new motherboard and processor. I am hoping the problem is infinity fabric on Ryzen memory controller. Does anybody here have the E-die memory and what are your best timings and ram speeds. They say that 1.45v is the maximum and many go that high for OCing. I would rather stay right around 1.4v
Yep, the system can manage 1.45 without issues. Various dies offer different capabilities. It also relies on the IMC, chip interconnects, and distance limitations. This isn't just about RAM settings. If the package isn't rated for that, performance won't be assured. You can adjust the SOC and DRAM values manually and verify the results.
I possess a 4x16GB 3200MHz CL16 package of E-die. Presently I operate it at 3666MHz CL14 with 1.44V, though I've verified performance up to 3733MHz CL14 at 1.47V and 4000MHz CL16 at 1.49V. My clock frequency caps at 1866MHz, so I plan to settle on 3733MHz CL14 after adjustments. No problems have arisen at CL16 with 1.43V.
My motherboard is a key part of my setup. It's an MSI 350 Gaming Pro Carbon, very similar to the X370 Gaming Pro Carbon. I consider it a high-end mid-range board. I posed the original question since Zen 3 offers better FCLK 1:1 support. My board runs at 3800mhz but becomes unstable quickly, often crashing or rebooting without a blue screen. A 3733mhz setup behaves the same, though less frequently. My XPG 3600mhz RAM shows the same issues as Crucial memory, leading me to suspect a problem with my Ryzen CPU or the B350 chipset being pushed too hard.
I pushed the RAM too aggressively from the start. It’s stable at 3600MHz right now. I’ll let it rest for a few more days and try CL 14 at 3600MHz with 1.45v. The heatsinks are light. I wanted to see if the memory modules can manage higher voltage.
My findings show the 32GB 3000mhz and 3200mhz kits are essentially identical. At 3000mhz the CL is 15, while at 3200mhz it’s 16. Some believe there could be improved binning for the 3200mhz units, but many agree they’re the same products with a slight boost for the extra 200mhz in the higher frequency range.
