Important Ballistix RGB 32GB bundle (2x16GB) isn't dual-rank—what should you consider?
I placed an order for the 'Crucial Ballistix RGB 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3600 Desktop Gaming Memory (Black)' with the part name BL2K16G36C16U4BL. I initially assumed it was dual rank but only after reading a Reddit discussion did I realize it might be single rank. I checked CPU-Z and confirmed it's single rank. I'm considering returning it and wondering if G.Skills Trident Z Neo 2x16GB or G.Skill Trident Z RGB 2x16GB are single or dual rank. Both are currently priced at $180 on Newegg, which matches the cost of my original purchase. I'm unsure why it turned out to be single rank despite the price. Anyone confirm the rank type?
Unless it's a Samsung B-die chip running at 3600MHz, the likelihood of dual rank stays below half—though not zero. Only a few brands clearly indicate this, but they no longer produce dual rank 16GB sticks, leaving you with limited options. Four 8GB modules remain the top choice.
I was also thinking about getting 2 of these https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-288-...DA2n7Bq8IA non RGB G.Skill ram with same timings, but then it would kind of ruin the whole vibe with my PC lol. RGB tax is lit.
