Impact on CPU performance of Radeon ReLive CPU
Hey there! From what I observe, my 5900X drops about 20% FPS when ReLive is active. I can replicate this across every game and a benchmark like CPU Profile confirms it—similar results to a 3900X when ReLive is on. Most discussions suggest the performance hit is minimal with ReLive enabled. Even though some games struggle with GPU limits, I believe the CPU side sees a noticeable slowdown. Since I mostly play competitive titles such as CS:GO and Valorant, I’m keen on maximizing frame rates while still capturing quality footage. Adjusting ReLive settings (bitrate, resolution, encoding type) doesn’t seem to change the outcome, and I rely on my system memory as a buffer.
System specs: CPU – Ryzen 9 5900X, GPU – SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Vega 64, RAM – 16GB Corsair Vegeance LPX 3600MHz CL16 (2x8GB), AIO – Arctic Liquid Cooler II 240mm, Motherboard – ASUS ROG Strix B550-E.

Registered just now – nice to see it! My 5800X is being reduced to a 3800X/3900X version if I turn on ReLIVE, based on the CPU-Profile Score. I also have a Vega64; switching the decoder, like to HEVC, doesn’t affect anything. The frame loss with ReLive in Valorant is around 200–300 FPS. It’s curious that the Vega64 doesn’t support Hardware Encoding even though it claims it does. This is notable since AMD and other sources say Relive has no impact at all.
