Hello, I upgraded my PC to a 7950X3D on ROG B650E-F with 2x32GB G.Skill 6000MT/s [email protected] two weeks ago. The system was working well before that (just a slight CO undervolt and adjusted RAM speeds). Recently, under load it restarted abruptly, followed by DRAM Q-LED lights during boot and remaining illuminated. The only solution was flashing the BIOS. After that, I applied the EXPO profile and ran HCI memtest, which completed successfully for about 60% with no errors until the sudden restart again. No errors appear in the Event Viewer, but the PC shuts down instantly and restarts to a yellow QLED after roughly three seconds. Windows logs only a power loss event. It seems like some protection mechanism activated, though nothing unusual was observed at the time—power draw around 100W, temps at 60°C, normal voltage levels. I haven’t made any changes before the problem started. The only adjustment I made recently was altering the AIO tubing layout to improve access. Could this have affected pressure on the socket? I also swapped the memory for a different model (2x32GB Kingston Fury Renegade 6000MT/s [email protected]) and ran an AIDA stress test. It still works fine after about 30 minutes, even with CO -5 and Buildzoid timings. However, I changed the AIO tubing routing again for this test to make it easier to reach. Could you assist with troubleshooting? Is it just the memory issue, or could another component be causing the problem? I have a couple of days left to figure it out and might want to return the faulty part without going through warranty. Thanks a lot!
I'm testing the kits in A2+B2 with A1+B1 left blank. I'm not changing the DIMM placement between the slots yet—I'll try that later. Thanks!
I have updated the G.Skill setup (I didn't keep track of which stick went into which slot when I removed them, so I just placed them randomly). To date, with only limited testing—several hours of multicore Cinebench and many AIDA64 SHA3 runs—the system appears stable, even under slightly adjusted configurations (EXPO I with reduced VDDIO and RAM voltages to 1.35V, VSoC at 1.25 and CO -3 using a few "better" cores around -15). I’ve also discovered that Asus’ PBO “Enhancement” mode seems to boost my crash rate, likely by applying a more aggressive clock speed that my chip struggles with. There’s an odd UCLK behavior too: when set to Auto, it sometimes jumps to 1500MHz instead of the expected 3000MHz. It might be determined during pre-boot memory training, and the memory module could be flagged as unstable at a 1:1 ratio. I fixed UCLK=MEMCLK in BIOS, but I’m not sure if it really matters. My benchmarks haven’t shown much change, though scores vary widely between runs, making conclusions tough. Would lowering UCLK to MEMCLK/2 improve stability and possibly the CO? I also have a curious thought: could reducing BCLK instead be worthwhile? My idea is that lowering both RAM and CPU speeds might stabilize performance and let a more aggressive CO curve work, while PBO could offset the slower speeds. I know overclocking BCLK is usually risky on Ryzen, but it’s worth checking for underclocking as well. Thanks a lot—your advice means a lot!
He's been struggling with his 7800x3D since release, turning it into a poor CPU after replacing RAM and the motherboard. After doing an RMA, it forced him to push up to CL40 for stability. I haven't tried underclocking BCLK, but I think it wouldn't be wise. BCLK also impacts PCIe bandwidth and stability, making it less suitable for modern PCIe storage and high-bandwidth GPUs.
