IMG introduced its latest PowerVR GPU design capable of 7.8 GRay/s. This performance would be approximately 26 times greater than the GR6500 and would remove the requirement for raster and hybrid rendering techniques. For dual GPU cards or multi-GPU configurations, system capabilities could be enhanced even more. The new GPU is designed to support both real-time rendering and high-end ray tracing, making it suitable for desktop and data center applications up to 9TFLOPS FP32 with over 7.8GRay/s. Giga rays, large beams, tiny beams are being explored. Not every result will be perfect, similar to other approaches when adapting for mobile to portable VR. It looks exciting to try out. According to Qualcomm's video at the link provided.

Currently, PowerVR's rasterization performance is decent but not outstanding. It remains competitive for certain applications, though newer technologies often offer better efficiency and quality.
