I moved an Alamy image onto my desktop and it won't delete. I can't place it in the trash or any other folder. I've tried using the command prompt to run 'dell?' and checked the file path, but it seems the directory is missing a character. I also used EaseUS BitWiper without success. Someone with advice would be great. Happy new year! Edited January 1, 2024 by adrian_ger

Could be a simple doubt, but is it still present? Have you attempted right-clicking and selecting refresh?

No problem, I've already restarted Windows Explorer and the PC is still there.

Have you attempted removing it via the file explorer (My computer)? Launch the app and navigate to C:\Users\Adrian\Desktop to check its presence and deletability. If absent, consider adding the missing characters in the field—possibly a typo or formatting issue.

You're facing an issue where the file name is too lengthy for the system. The title of the picture contains 251 characters, which may be causing the problem. You're trying to rename it but can't due to length restrictions, and you're also unable to change the properties or use the rename feature in Windows Explorer.

Sure, I can help with that. Run the command in your command prompt or PowerShell to delete all .jpg files from your Desktop.

Another option might be to apply a system restore point, provided you have one available and it was created prior to the action. It seems to monitor modifications in files and folders, which could be effective.

I noticed a discussion on the Microsoft Community about using WinRAR and pressing Shift+del to remove an image. It seems the file size was too large, making deletion difficult. I attempted it and it succeeded. Thanks for all the feedback!
