I replaced an older iMac with a Core 2 Duo T9900 (previously had a T7700). When trying to power it up, the fans would spin, then stop, restart, and display a black screen without sound. The three LEDs on the motherboard lit up, but the LCD remained off. I think the issue relates to the new CPU's 1066 MHz bus versus the RAM's 800 MHz rating. This problem might be resolved by using DDR2-1066 memory modules.

I recall that the T8300 iMacs don't work with the T9000 models.
