It depends on the socket used by the old iMAC. Do you have a photo of its motherboard? Otherwise, it’s quite outdated for 2021—just grab something else if you have one.

It seems the setup might not be compatible. The iMac uses Socket P while the Pentium T4300 is Socket 478, though both share a 478-pin configuration. I’m not entirely sure about the details.

the cpu has a socket p, but i have another laptop with a t7300 which runs well, though i only use the imac until i get a t9600.
