iMac grub/install troubles
iMac grub/install troubles
My friend gifted me a 2008 iMac running Fedora. I attempted to uninstall it and switch to Mac OS, but now only the Grub menu remains accessible. I've tested various recovery key combinations and tried booting from Windows 10 and Linux USB drives. Since I don't have another Mac, would purchasing an official Mac OS X installation CD be a viable option?
I attempted that via the guide at the provided link. It only displays the GRUB command line and doesn’t start the full Mac installation. I’m not sure what settings to apply to boot from the USB.
Refer to the Apple Support guide at https://support.apple.com/en-hk/HT202796 for instructions on choosing an alternative boot source.
Press Command + R to start the Recovery mode, which hasn't been deleted. If it was removed, look for a bootable drive and try using it. You might need to adjust the date on the installer to match when you downloaded it, as this can cause problems. It’s not always necessary, but I’ve noticed it often leads to issues in practice.
