My current rig is a 7970, which at 1080p hits around 399 fps (as noted by the crash warnings), so you could stick with it for performance while staying budget-friendly. It will overclock significantly if desired. Alternatively, consider upgrading the GPU and improving airflow—perhaps opting for a less expensive i5 and an H97 board instead of a Z97.
