Hi everyone,
I’m testing a fresh build for Euro Truck Simulator 2 in High/Ultra settings, aiming for 4K resolution at 60 FPS with V-Sync enabled. I’ve chosen an AMD solution because of its good value, but I’m struggling to pick between three options: the RX 6800 XT, RX 7800 XT, and RX 6900 XT. From what I’ve seen in benchmarks on YouTube, the first two should comfortably handle the game at my current specs. The third offers more raw power, which might be useful later.

I also want the graphics card to remain relevant for at least four years, since the game regularly adds demanding DLCs.

In my local market I’m looking at:
- ASUS TUF RX 6800 16G GAMING – 622 USD
- ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7800 XT OC Edition 16GB GDDR6 – 673 USD (within budget)
- XFX AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Speedster MERC 319 Black – 620 USD

Please let me know your thoughts.

Both the 6800 XT and 6900 XT appear to surpass the 7800 XT according to Passmark data.
The comparison highlights that the 6900 XT is better suited for Ultra 4k, offering stronger raw performance. It's also more affordable compared to the other options. The power supply unit might influence the final choice. Could you share the exact model of your current PSU?

I would choose the RX 6900 XT or 7800 XT, as they offer nearly identical performance. The 7800 XT is slightly cooler and more efficient, with improved ray tracing capabilities. If you can find them at comparable prices, opt for the 7800 XT; if you can secure the 6900 XT at a significant discount, that would be ideal. In either case, ensure you have a suitable power supply to handle the system's demands.

What is the make and model of your power supply unit? I’d choose the RX 6900XT if it’s dependably built and not repurposed from a previous setup or older configuration.

I wouldn't be interested in any of them, since you can purchase a 9070 for just $15 more than the 7800xt.

Thank you all for your responses.
I haven’t finalized the PSU yet; I currently have just the case.
The rest of the components will rely on the GPU, as it’s a new build.
The RX 6900 XT looks quite appealing. However, personally I find it quite unattractive compared to the others, though if performance is strong I might accept the drawbacks.
Both the RX 6800 XT and the RX 6900 XT are from 2020, any advice on their long-term viability?
Please remember these are the only AMD options in this category available in my area. A more powerful card would require a higher price, which isn’t feasible.

Occasionally things aren't flawless. I'd rather focus on the screen than the card, hehe.

Unless you're planning a vertical installation, this isn't a big deal. You'll mostly see the top of the card, and unless you have a lot of space in your pockets, you usually prioritize performance over looks if you really want it. You could upgrade the finish, but it won't change much. For high 4K performance, the hardware's speed is definitely the main focus.

Side comment and didn't see it mentioned.
What type of monitor are you using and what kind of cable are you connecting with? Res/framerate?
V-Sync won't provide optimal performance with an AMD graphics card. It's worth noting that with a recent AMD CPU, there are some minor advantages to using V-Sync as well. If you're considering V-Sync, it's best to opt for NVIDIA or Intel cards instead.
