I'm struggling to push my CPU (Ryzen 5 1600). I've tested speeds from 3.6 to 4.0 GHz with the 1.4V override, but none succeeded. HardwareInfo shows a max of around 3.2-3.4 GHz, and CPU-Z reports 2600 multicore/315 single-core scores—close to the Ryzen 3000 series. This time I'm facing a bottleneck; CPU and GPU usage are low during games. Should I try different settings or is upgrading necessary? I recently switched from an 1050Ti to an 1070 but still experience this issue.

You won't be able to significantly boost a 1600 processor. There are very limited options to improve its performance, otherwise it would likely be labeled as an 1600x.

What kind of CPU cooler are you using? The box cooler might not be enough. Your case could also be a hot box, making it hard for any cooler to help.

I own a stock cooler but it stays cool. It didn't overheat because it never exceeded 3.39ghz even when I adjusted the voltage to 1.4v. The CoolermaMaster Mastebox 5 has no front mirror, which means the fans are running continuously to move air.

The issue might stem from a known limitation that restricts frequency to around 1.55GHz during overclock attempts, though it usually prevents full overclocking. Regarding cooling solutions, manufacturers typically stock higher-end chips in lower price tiers to maintain inventory balance, as they wouldn't justify the cost for premium models.

others boost their R5 1600 12nm to 4GHz yet my 14nm version still caps at 3.4GHz even when I try to hit 3.7GHz

I chose this method because I couldn't lower the BIOS version further with the older one available, and it was the only option I had. I have a Ryzen 5 stock cooler, but my case offers strong airflow.

However, I can boost my RAM speed and adjust voltage settings too; plus the CPU. When I modify the clock speeds, I view it as base clock in Windows Task Manager and system details, though the actual performance doesn't match.
