I think this motherboard is pretty much a no-go. If I go for the a88x model, would it even work? Don't throw money away on it. The performance jump from 1866 to 2400 is barely noticeable, and if you can return it, it might be better to just buy an i3 6100 instead of wasting time.

What you anticipated from budget components? The motherboard and processor are only certified up to 1866, so exceeding that will mainly involve compatibility issues and temporary solutions.

Yeah, I think you're right about that. I would have chosen the A88X chipset or a standard CPU and GPU instead. After all, this is my first PC build and I wasn't very clear on the parts selection.

Now you're left with a lot of unnecessary parts (in terms of specs) compared to what you actually get in performance. You really can't do much if the motherboard doesn't support XMP for higher settings—manual overclocking probably won't help either.

The board needs to technically accommodate that OC. The BIOS has been updated recently, which improved memory compatibility.

Yes technically, but the download link only lists C10R as compatible at 2400, which is uncertain. I didn't recommend BIOS since the latest version should already be installed (you can't use the CPU without one of the newer ones), though this might still work.

I'm going to try installing that update, but I'm unsure it would help because I've already downloaded the latest one that supports godavari chips. About half an hour later, I used @BIOS which "updated" it, but it was already at the newest BIOS version, so it didn't work. Still appreciate the advice.
