In the bios, do you have any adapters to which nothing is connected? A adapter is initialized when it sends a signal to the bios. It takes 5-10 seconds for the bios to decide that there is nothing there if nothing comes back. Network adapters that you don't use, legacy usb devices that are not used and such. Have you selected memory check at startup?
