Hey there, I’m really struggling right now and usually don’t post like this, but I’m desperate for some guidance. I assembled my PC back in February 2024, and from the very start it hasn’t been running smoothly. When I first spotted the issue, I dove into research, ran diagnostics, and adjusted settings. But after a while, I lost hope. Now that I’m back in the game, the slowdown is really affecting me – especially since my hardware should be handling things much better. The problem gets worse with higher CPU temps than I anticipated, even though I’m using an AIO cooler. Under heavy load, my CPU feels excessively hot, not to mention I’m not overclocking or running many background tasks. Here’s what I have:

- Case: Lian Li PC-O11
- Fans: 9× Lian Li SL120 (first gen)
- Board: Asus ROG Strix X670E-A (latest BIOS)
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D (curve optimizer set to -30 in BIOS)
- Cooler: EKWB Nucleus CR360 Lux (AIO)
- GPU: Zotac GeForce RTX 4080 Super Trinity
- RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5 32 GB @ 6400 MHz (AMD Expo 1 in BIOS)
- Power Supply: BeQuiet Pure Power 12M 1000 W
- Storage: Samsung 980 PRO (1 TB), 970 EVO Plus (1 TB), 860 EVO (256 GB OS)
- OS: Windows 11 Pro (24H2, freshly installed yesterday)

I’ve tried checking fan curves, repositioned the cooler with different pastes (thermal grizzly and stock EKWB), and cleared dust. Still, performance drops and temps stay high. My UserBenchmark scores are concerning – Cinebench 2024 shows a CPU multi-core of 1086, single core 113, GPU 27397 MP, with a max temperature of 86°C during testing. Power usage is around 95W. Idling or using Edge brings it down to 66°C, and gaming hits 83°C.

I’m not sure if the issue is an installation error, BIOS settings, poor paste job, or something else. Any suggestions, checks, or advice would mean a lot – I just want this machine to function properly again.

The pump in your AIO could be faulty, so consider replacing it, sending it back, or using an air-cooling method.

I recently owned a Lian Li GALAHAD II 360 Trinity Performance. It performed poorly in cooling, and prior to that I used the Cooler Master ML360R. I didn’t mention it in the post, sorry, but I don’t believe my AI is broken.

Changing the RAM speed to 6000Mhz instead of the default 6400Mhz won't allow perfect compatibility with the Infinity Fabric. We suggest using 6000Mhz CL30 RAM for Ryzen 7000 processors. The temperatures you're observing are normal. AM5 tends to heat up.

I’m trying to figure this out. Should I leave EXPO 1 active and just adjust the RAM speed to 6000MHz, or should I turn it off and set the RAM to 6000MHz? My understanding isn’t very strong right now.

It's almost 3 AM here and I'm trying to rest. Please check back tomorrow; we'll sort this out.

Temperatures are rising, but performance shouldn't drop too much. I figured it out by checking reviews and seeing typical behavior. It seems to happen during specific games or with certain settings. Could you give more details about the situations where this occurs and what settings or games trigger it?

The test outcomes seem stable, no throttling or performance problems detected. Issues appear only within games. Could you specify which titles and the nature of the performance concerns?

the throttling you noticed doesn’t reach 5GHz consistently; it stays around 4.7 to 4.85 GHz, which isn’t much but still present. regarding performance problems, there’s microstuttering, input lag (slow mouse), and lower frame rates compared to someone with a similar setup—my system has a 4070 ti and 6000mhz ram, otherwise it behaves the same. i only play bf6 and loot bot, but stutters appear in bf2042 and black ops 6 possibly due to a driver issue around 2024. that was the last time my bo6 and bf2042 dropped to 160 fps during intense fights, which seems unusual for a 4080 super on 1080p. if anyone has benchmark suggestions, please let me know so i can test and confirm whether this is normal or needs fixing.
