I'm struggling with kernel-level problems both before and after the Windows 11 reinstall.
Hey folks,
A couple days ago, a friend of mine started running into some pretty catastrophic tech issues. I'm trying to provide tech support over the phone, but we're at a wall. I've included a
series of pictures on Imgur
that tell the story, but the short version is:
Several games started crashing, followed by a series of Windows crashes that led us to an automatic repair tool loop.
We couldn't access Windows, so we tried our best to get information from the command prompt, but things were getting worse by the minute.
Eventually, we reinstalled Windows on a fresh drive, but issues persisted.
We managed to get it into safe mode to check Device Manager and Event Viewer, which pointed us to a minidump log.
Relevant error messages that we've seen if you can't view the Imgur album:
Driver_Overran_Stack_Buffer (0xF7)
System_Service_Exception (0x3B) (win32kbase.sys failed)
Windows Setup failure, error code 0x80070057 - 0x40029
Kmode_Exception_Not_Handled (0x1E) (Ntfs.sys failed)
At this point, I'm pretty far out of my comfort zone, so if anybody has any suggestions on what to do I'd really appreciate it! I've got the minidump files on Mediafire over here, but please let me know if there's a better way I should post them!

I would begin with simple hardware checks. Perform memtest during the night. Ensure the hardware is functioning properly before moving on to the software.
RAM seems to be the probable cause from a hardware standpoint. Another possibility lies with the drivers. Could you provide details about the drivers installed, the silage they were set up with, and their peripheral connections?
The USB drive and installation media are at most a few days old. The specifications I received are:
Processor: Intel Core i9-13900K
Memory: 32GB DDR5-6000MhZ TEAMGROUP RGB RAM
Power Supply: 850 Watt - 80 PLUS Gold Certified PCIe GEN 5 PSU
Video Card: GeForce RTX 4070 Ti - 12GB
Storage capacity is unclear.
If you need additional system details, just let me know and I can reach out to a friend. Regarding drivers, do you have any preferences? Sorry, as noted, I'm not very familiar with this.
Drivers might seem like anything if they're damaged; it's simply one of the codes that indicates a Windows installation or setup issue. But if the device and creation software are working properly, the problem likely lies in RAM, where you've been instructed to perform a memory test.
As suggested by previous advice, the typical next step is to download and run memtest86 from a USB drive. This could indicate a failing hard drive or a serious driver problem, although such issues are now uncommon.
Are you certain you completed the entire test?
A complete test on 32gigs of RAM could take 12 hours or longer.
It only evaluates a limited segment at a time, providing outcomes for the initial part before moving to the next section.
It looks like the attempt to continue didn't advance further; instead, we saved a report. There was no indication of settings showing partial memory testing.
Hey there,
I tried downloading and running Samsung Magician to check the output. My initial guess is this might be about storage issues. You might also want to try DISM/sfcscannow:

Even though it's a fresh install, it could still be the cause.
