I'm struggling to connect to the Ethernet, could you assist me?
Recently, my Ethernet link on my PC has been unstable—sometimes it drops and I get a message saying no connection, only to recover quickly. It’s frustrating because it affects things like loading pages or playing games. I’ve reset Windows 10 twice and still haven’t fixed the issue. I’m not sure what’s causing it, but whenever I connect a router from my modem and then link that router to my PC via Ethernet, it doesn’t work properly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Is this not a hardware issue? Check if your PC connects straight to the Router or uses a Switch first. Do you have separate Router and Modem, or a combined unit? Try using another Ethernet cable from the PC to the Router. Also, power off the Router/Modem (disconnect the power cord), wait a few seconds, then reconnect. Restart your computer. Allow roughly 5 minutes for lights to activate, then retry. If problems persist, reach out to your ISP to verify your connection.
The issue arises only when the PC is directly linked to the modem (internet box name unknown), but works fine when an Ethernet cable connects from the same device to a switch or router.
