I’m starting to get really confused.
I've been using a gaming PC for about two years without any issues. It comes with an i7 8700k, 16GB RAM at 3000MHz, and a GTX 1080 Ti. Recently, my mouse started lagging randomly when opening programs like ICUE or Bethesda launcher. The lag lasts until I close the apps. I recently replaced my old SSD and reinstalled everything fresh, along with switching to a new Windows version. The problem disappeared after that. However, it happened again today while playing PUGBRING—closing the game showed the same issue. I also tried using another mouse, but the problem persists. This lag is really frustrating.
That's notable - running an i7 8700k for about two years is impressive. Many people had to wait a year more. However, if the issue appears only in certain programs, monitor CPU usage during mouse lag. It could be a third-party software problem or even a hardware issue, though that’s less likely. Avoid a clean system install if you encounter problems, as it erases helpful data (like Event Viewer logs) that might help fix the issue.
