Before, I relied on Cisco Packet Tracer, which functioned fairly well. Mostly focused on Cisco and Linksys devices. Network Notepad, Dia, and Cade appear to be other options mentioned online.

The second Packet Tracer is really helpful for understanding basic network layouts, even with different device brands.
