My present desktop:
MSI PS63 Modern
Current laptop questions:
1. What is your budget? Around $1000, plus or minus a bit
2. Which notebook size are you thinking of? 15.6'' (14'' or 16'' would work)
3. What resolution do you require? Not applicable
4. Are you looking for a portable or desktop replacement? No
5. How long should the battery last? Not specified
6. Would you like to play games on your laptop? If yes, please mention the titles and the settings you prefer (Low, Medium or High). Yes, Low/Medium settings
7. What other activities do you plan to perform with your laptop? (Photo/video editing, etc.) Graphic design/photo editing
8. How much storage space do you need? 512 GB or more
9. If you have specific websites in mind for purchasing, please share their links. N/A
10. How long do you intend to keep the laptop? As long as possible
11. Which type of optical drive would you prefer? DVD ROM/Writer, Bluray ROM/Writer, etc. N/A
12. Share your preferred brands and those you dislike, along with reasons. I’ve used only Acer, Mac, and MSI so far. I’m concerned about the build and hinge quality of MSI.

I’m seeking a solid all-rounder laptop with a good trackpad. My current MSI PS63 Modern has a nice trackpad, so something similar would be ideal. Avoid OLED screens and ideally no numeric keypad.
Would upgrading to a newer MSI Modern be worthwhile?
I’ve been considering the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 (2023), but it seems too powerful for my needs.
My current specs are i7 Nvidia GTX 1050Ti
