I've experienced noticeable delays over a while. Recently I discovered buffer bloat and according to DSLreports, it accounts for over half of my latency. SQM/AQM/QoS seems to be the most effective solution. I've seen general advice suggesting the ubiquity edgerouter 4 as a good option. I think I'll also need a switch and an access point to match the performance of the AIO unit my ISP provided, maybe even a better modem to prevent bottlenecks. This is where my understanding stops—I'm not sure if the er4 router is ideal for me or what I should prioritize in a switch, AP, or modem. I'm on a 400Mbps connection and could tolerate around 200Mbps if it helps reduce latency.
