I'm playing old games on my PC, but my key codes are no longer working. They’re listed in the manuals.
Hello, I have a question. I possess older games from around 2006 that came with key codes in their manuals, and I retain all of those manuals to verify the codes' validity. However, the companies now no longer validate these keys, and my games display “Key code invalid” errors. I know the codes are accurate based on the manuals. Is there a method to play these games, or should I discard them? One game presented this issue and Steam insisted on me purchasing the game again, despite possessing all original installation CDs and codes. Is there any way to still access these games?
If the games were unlocked online, you use the key during the initial unlock; it then binds to your old hardware’s game installation. Contact the publisher of each game for assistance. Many EA and Blizzard games can be activated via CD codes on Origin and BattleNet, respectively, as I recently reactivated an old Diablo II copy. Attempt entering the game's code directly into Steam to see if it activates. However, if a game requires internet service unavailable now, there are no legal solutions.
I will attempt it again. I believe I tried this on Steam. If I find the game for Origin, how do I use my code? Do I select “add a non-Origin game” or something similar? Never mind. My old Call of Duty 2 is not listed there; it was only available on Steam. It’s frustrating that if I want to play that old game again, it will cost $20. Seriously, I’ve tried contacting Activision and they haven’t responded. This is ridiculous.
I attempted to register with Blizzard and experienced a continuous, frustrating cycle. After completing all required information on the registration page and clicking "create account," the page repeatedly cleared, forcing me to start over. Ultimately, I ceased my efforts.
It functioned correctly. After that, a verification process requiring an image was necessary to demonstrate I wasn't a robot, which I successfully completed. Then, the system abruptly reset and forced me to restart using the same password I'd been utilizing. However, when attempting to submit my entries, my chosen game was not listed, so I selected another Call of Duty title solely to acquire a ticket. Following this, the system provided solutions specifically tailored to that game – you cannot submit content or simply receive a ticket for assistance. Customer service today is inadequate. I will attempt Activision again. I am not the only one experiencing this problem; I simply want to access my previously owned games and would like to explore methods for bypassing the issue, as a legitimate solution is unavailable.
