You're weighing two different solutions. An Ax200 Wi-Fi card boosts your existing network, while a Wi-Fi extender with Cat6 Ethernet adds range. Consider your current setup and coverage needs before deciding.

The wireless router's position isn't specified, and running a cable directly from it to your desktop might not be feasible depending on its placement and network setup.

Ensure your antennas are suitable for the AX200 card. Choose the option linked, which is a wireless router with only 100Mbps ports. Using repeaters reduces performance significantly. Opt for a dedicated access point or a strong wireless card paired with quality antennas instead.

That's not ideal, so I'm looking at alternative solutions.

How much distance remains? A standard wireless card should suffice, though a wired link straight from the device is always better.

It's on the opposite end of my modem. For a wired connection, I'd have to dig a hole in my basement window and another in my upstairs window—though it might only be a few feet, but given Canada's winter weather and summer conditions, that structure probably won't hold for long.

They provide outdoor cabling options. You might also consider installing a conduit for added protection.
