Hi, I encountered some problems with my fans' speed settings and it’s affecting my experience. I’m trying to find the right balance between performance and noise. I replaced my fans hoping for better quality, but I suspect the automatic calibration in the BIOS is linked to their maximum speed. In the BIOS, the speed curve is shown in percentage, which doesn’t match my fans’ capabilities—they can reach up to 3000 RPM. Even at half speed, it’s already quite loud. I’ve attached some images of the curves and a video showing the noise. 20240429_121653.mp4 Thank you all!
It seems you want to adjust the settings. The current configuration produces noticeable noise even at 50% load because of the high RPM fans. You can experiment further and reduce the speed to around 1k for quieter operation without sacrificing much cooling. They remain functional, so it's still a viable option.
Fan control is another tool that allows you to manage fans through your operating system. It’s very convenient, user-friendly, and straightforward to use. I highly suggest giving it a try—it’s also been improved to let you adjust specific RPMs instead of just percentages.
50% multiplied by 3000 RPM equals 1500 RPM. Just reduce the curves to fit your requirements. If you aim for 600 RPM, that corresponds to (600 divided by 3000) times 100, which is 20%.
Check each fan separately to identify its quietest operating point. Use that as your baseline speed. Determine the highest safe volume you can tolerate and set that as your upper limit. Adjust the remaining range from full volume down by 10°C until you reach comfort.
