I'm not sure how to proceed with Windows issues or possible hardware problems.
I regularly use this computer each day. I handle school assignments and then spend a lot of time playing games on it. Last night I turned it on normally, went to prepare dinner and do some chores. About two hours later, the screen became unresponsive. I waited a short while, couldn’t get a response, so I pressed the power button and shut it down. When I restarted it, Windows reported a crash or issue. The repair attempt didn’t help, and it kept restarting several times. I noticed an error message about “windows system32 logfiles srt srttrail.txt.” After checking online and trying various fixes without success, the system crashed again during PowerShell commands. I considered reinstalling Windows on another drive because I suspected a hard drive failure, but that didn’t resolve the problem. Now it boots up and asks for the volume of Windows to install, but both options failed. It only ran briefly before freezing, and now everything feels unstable. Today I tried turning it on again, but I don’t see any BIOS screen and nothing appears from the GPU or the slot on the motherboard. I’m confused and concerned this might have caused a total failure. Could it be related to RAM? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Here’s a link to the system details for reference. I built the setup in 2021, so it’s an older model, but I wasn’t expecting it to stop suddenly. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PtRXzP
Have you ever overclocked the CPU? It might be due to heat issues. I’d isolate it to the CPU, GPU, and a single RAM stick, remount the cooler, and see if it improves.
I’ve noticed the PC behaves unusually and suspect it’s related to the CPU or RAM. I wouldn’t assume anything else. Remove the CPU cooler and the CPU itself, then remount the CPU using the X pattern. Reattach the cooler, reinstall the RAM (if you took it out for cooling), and try booting up. If it still doesn’t work, test each RAM stick individually—see if that resolves the issue. Let me know your results.
