I'm not sure, but creating a guest network might help depending on the cause of your problem.

I purchased a new air conditioner with WiFi on the 2.4 GHz frequency for app management. All my gadgets require 5G for my Blu-ray player. I discovered the unit can connect and operate outside my local network, sending and receiving data over the internet. This raises concerns as it might technically reach other devices like computers, NAS, or shared folders. If I switch the 2.4 GHz channel to a guest network, would that prevent it from accessing other devices while still allowing remote control for turning it on when returning from work?
A guest network would prevent the AC from communicating with other devices on your network. You can also use several SSIDs on a single band, allowing you to separate a guest network from a private one within the same band.
A guest network is the most straightforward option. I typically assign a distinct VLAN to all my IoT devices for this purpose.
Hey team, that's a good point. The VLAN is the only thing I have available for external access. I'm placing it on a guest network with a new password and turning off the intranet. I'm also considering hiding the SSID.
