Is there a reason behind choosing a 3960/70x? They seem to be competing with consumer CPUs at the moment, making them less ideal options. For TRX40 boards, PCPartPicker is a helpful tool. Any model should work, but I suggest opting for a TRX80 board since they still support CPUs.
Mostly due to PCIE lanes allocation. Most consumer CPU's still lack a large enough amount for a lot of PCIE devices, most of which for my use case would be capture cards and what not. It's strictly work related, not for gaming
They only offer the Threadripper Pro CPU models, which are much pricier.
When budget matters, choose the most affordable trx4 board that meets your needs.
This depends on them offering a Threadripper 6000 or 7000 model with identical chipset and socket design.

The only option available is the TRX40. The WRX80 is better suited for a workstation setup.
