If you use adobe stuff everyday, stick with the suite. If the team has been working on your projects, then they are the right ones for you. I don't use them and have learned different tools instead, but if they are your daily driver and you actually need them, go ahead and keep using them.

I need to add more backup software to the list right now. This isn't just about the programs themselves, but also about plans. What do you think? If I'm asking too much, what combination of tools, computers, or online services would you choose? I used to forget about my Mac and have started using this plan to get back on track with backups. I think there are at least two kinds of things we need: System Backups Whenever everything is installed and updated, save the current state. And Project Backups After all apps are set up, save that state too. ??? Projects (files and folders) Created work-in-progress content Research notes references Photos and other media entertainment media here. Here are some apps that look good so far... Macrium Reflect lonezilla Rescuezilla Déjà Dup Redo Rescue Karen's Replicator FreeFileSync Duplicati rsync Opinions and suggestions are welcome!

Macrium Reflect is all you need. For every fresh computer: Create a Day 1 Image. Just take the bare OS for Day 2 along with updates and apps. After that, just copy over new versions of everything like this. Each drive and system gets its own folder. What's your backup plan right now? What's your backup plan at home? And if you don't have one, why not? Every single day I see posts on forums asking "How do I get my stuff back?" or "That drive had photos of my kids!" It could be a broken drive, dropped phone, virus, wrong click during setup...

I don't think there is a perfect way to copy files for all situations. It depends on how complicated your computer system is, how many hard drives you have, how much data you are backing up, and how recently that backup needs to be fresh. I have a basic setup with one main drive and two spare ones. Every fifteen days, I create a copy of my current files on the working drive. Then I switch back and forth between the working drive and one of the spares. If the working drive suddenly stops working or fails, I can use the copy that is sitting in the spare to keep going. Is this really bulletproof? No, it isn't completely safe against all problems. But it does work fast and is easy to understand and fix. It covers most common issues for now.
