I’m looking for a classic computer game where you would cut through the display.
I’m looking for a classic computer game where you would cut through the display.
I recall playing a long-standing computer game featuring an unusual system. The player would navigate along the perimeter of the playable space, seeking safety, yet their objective was to advance inward and dismantle portions of the area without being hit by roaming foes. Success would only come when a new boundary was established with your trailing line, provided that line remained untouched by any enemy. After each segment was removed, it transformed into an impenetrable barrier for the adversaries.
I believe it was a 2D, side-view game with charming pixel art graphics and that it took place on extraterrestrial worlds. I distinctly remember encountering a massive, undulating creature you battled at one point that moved erratically across the screen. I suspect I played it in the early 1990s, although the game itself may be significantly older.
If anyone has information regarding this title, I appreciate your assistance.
Is this the end?
I don't believe it features any worms, although perhaps a later iteration might. One could consider the primary antagonist to resemble a worm, even though engaging with it is undesirable—it’s more of a mental challenge than an actual combat encounter.
I experienced this game on arcade machines during the late 1980s. It debuted in 1981 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qix
