In your Windows configuration, is your Input device set as VoiceMeeter Output (B1)/ AUX Output(B2)?
Are Discord's audio preferences aligned with your Windows audio settings?
The image shows my Windows audio positioned on the leftmost slider.
My primary output is routed through B1, while the far-right slider in the picture represents the microphone.
Windows is configured to use A1 (my headphones) and B1 (my mic).

I'll try it again. if it works, fine but my frustration is:
(1) i don't always use my headset. when i'm not on call i use my audio system and i don't like having to go into windows audio options to switch things around constantly.
(2) when i'm not streaming to him i'll ALSO have to go into the audio settings to bypass the mixer because i obviously don't want to send him all of the audio from my computer all the time.
(3) What drives me most insane is I SHOULDN'T have to use something like this in the first place if discord did what it claims to do. I'm not asking for anything crazy here. this shouldn't be so convoluted. it's not like we don't have the technology to stream a freaking game and audio. there's no reason it has to be this ridicules.

You don't need to navigate through Windows settings to handle your setup. Use Voicemeeter instead. If your audio system is connected to your PC, assign it to A1 as your main device. Place your headset on A2 to minimize issues during connection changes. Keep all the toggle switches active.

I'll attempt voicemeeter again but Discord has a proper method—it just won't cooperate like most programs on my machine. I used to enjoy computers... now I'd rather live without them. Every day something breaks and I have to spend a week fixing it. This is just one of at least five issues I'm tackling right now, after my whole system completely crashed over Christmas, including two hard drives that stopped working without reason. One of them has years of work on it... sorry, just needed to vent.

It's okay. Everyone faces this at some time. I'll keep working to assist you with Voicemeeter if needed.
