Hello! I recently installed new RAM sticks for my Omen HP 830c PC. The sticks are CorSAIR DDR4 2x8GB at 3000MHz. I placed both in the black slots, but only the first 8GB appear to be recognized. The last slot, which is blue, doesn’t show any RAM. I’ve checked each slot individually and even used msconfig and system info settings, but nothing works. It’s really frustrating. I also had to restart the computer because it kept showing a blue screen. Please review the files below for more details.
Searching for “hp omen 830c” isn’t working as expected. “Omen” was HP’s gaming line, covering desktops and laptops, but the models I found are different sizes and not what you need. You were looking at the motherboard to understand memory handling, especially with channeled memory performance.
It's technically an 870, though the bios and system info list it as 830c. I'm guessing that's just a discrepancy.
This looks like a motherboard for an 870. I think it might be similar, though it seems a bit different—maybe with more than four slots or mixed colors. The dual-channel slots look possible, but the wiring setup is confusing.
It clearly shows four options, as indicated by the two available slots.
The important detail about that board is the memory slots come in various colors. You should fill them in order by color when using two sticks, meaning slot one and slot three.
ROM Family SSID 830C (Bios reference). It appears to be an Omen 870 model with a similar naming pattern. This isn't the official manual; it seems to point toward the Omen 870-000 series. The documentation doesn't specify which slots are correct, just that it's for the 870-000 model.
