He mentioned he doesn't want another *cough* pc, suggesting he doesn't want to*cough* end up with a console either. He might be able to grab the cable, a USB Xbox controller, and a USB extension. All set.

Because it's a long distance, he might need over 30 feet of cable if he wants to run it along the wall. Ethernet allows you to cover around 100 feet, I think.
