I intend to utilize my Windows 10 Pro license effectively, storing it on a disc and installing it fully on a QEMU-KVM storage device. This setup allows me to move the virtual disk from one computer to another without significant downtime, especially if the primary drive fails. Regarding the Windows operating system, transferring the OS between machines typically requires deactivating and reactivating it on the target host. The key point is that the OS focuses only on the physical motherboard it connects to, not on the specific hardware or device. QEMU-KVM should treat the same motherboard consistently across both systems, ensuring the guest Windows environment recognizes it correctly. This way, I can run the installed OS seamlessly between my desktop and laptop, both operating on Linux as the host.

Just transfer the virtual machine image between Linux systems. No licensing required. Unactivated Windows won’t impact anything.

Yes, legacy mode refers to changing your HP laptop's BIOS settings so it only boots in legacy mode.

Yes, you can relocate the VM's disk image from one Linux host to another without the VM noticing any changes in its perceived hardware. That way, you can proceed with installing Windows in QEMU-KVM.
