I've been engaging in advanced warfare and recently noticed the game slowing down unexpectedly. I'm puzzled about the cause. I've adjusted settings from the lowest to highest, but FPS drops consistently from around 90 to 35-40 when someone joins multiplayer. It happens sometimes without warning. No overheating issues detected. Although it's a COD title, I still enjoy playing and used MSI Afterburner to capture a log if you're interested. The log was created on approximately February 2nd, 2015 at 14:05:47. I've attached the file here as a text document. CPU: I7 4770k GPU: 2x R9-270x 2GB RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600 Fresh install of Windows 8.1 with all drivers updated. HardwareMonitoring.txt and additional notes included.

I recommend testing various graphics drivers and making sure both the system and operating system are in good condition. However, I suspect there might be some issues with the crossfire settings on that title—like stuttering or lag—not actual performance drops. It seems like the frame rate is consistently low, especially at high settings, with noticeable delays in delivering frames. The game developer also needs to fine-tune for multiple GPUs, so these configurations can behave differently.

I'll consider this. I'll include it in CCC and turn off crossfire, then observe the outcome.

And this is a fresh install of my OS with all the latest drivers. Figured I should have noted that.

Have you considered that current modern titles often need more than 3GB, and you might only use the 2GB of RAM available? I haven’t experienced this with my 270, but I’m not sure if it’s the same for you! The logs don’t clearly indicate filling up, just a hint. What kind of system are you running?

I considered this but right now I have no choice but to stick with what I have. I bought these cards about a year ago, ran at 1920 x 1080, turned off Crossfire, and the stutters are nearly gone. I believe adjusting my settings will fix everything. Before, dips were so severe I couldn’t even aim. Now I’m stable enough to record without dropping FPS. The thing I overlooked actually helped. Is this my complete solution? I’m still figuring it out, but for now I can play. Thanks!

Adjust the settings further; most AA is slowing you down (vram depletion can occur, which often happens). This rig has only 2GB of vram and data moves between cards, so both GPUs are affected. AMD fixed some Crossfire stutter issues in the drivers—try the latest Omega versions. If that doesn’t resolve it, switch between versions or wait for Beta updates. Remember, latency at game relates to connectivity, while frame variance points to the actual issue. Most fixes come from tweaking drivers or trying different versions. Sometimes the problem lies with the game’s optimization, engine, API, drivers, or hardware design. People often recommend a single high-performance card over two, even though dual GPUs usually offer better performance and cost savings.

Thanks for sharing. You managed to get the second GPU for a low price, which was great. Since you're using an Omega system, checking the beta drivers could help. Appreciate your support!

At 1920x1080 it should work without problems. I’ve had no issues before and I’m using the same card. Perhaps there’s a crossfire optimization problem? I’m not sure about cross in COD games.
