Your setup has multiple CPU slots, so you can connect both CPUs without issues. When updating the BIOS, you typically remove the GPU, RAM, and storage drives to ensure a clean installation. You don’t need to power on the system unless you want to test it manually. Just make sure all necessary components are removed before flashing the BIOS.
For a 12600K, one connection is sufficient. On motherboards, the eight-pin power connectors sit on the same 12V power plane, meaning you don’t have to connect both simultaneously for it to work. You should connect them only if the second cable provides additional power capacity. An 8-pin connector can deliver up to 396W under standard conditions, with higher output in its high-current version. Decide whether your CPU requires more than 400W for overclocking; at maximum ambient cooling you’d likely hit around 250W. Having two 4+4 EPS power connectors is acceptable if both are accessible, but reaching them can be challenging. I’d only consider it in extreme cases—sub-zero cooling or running a 12900KS—otherwise sticking with an 8-pin EPS is usually best.
Hey, um I have a update when I was trying to flash my bios. I forgot to tell you but my pc would turn off by itself after it being on for roughly 15 seconds so it is technically impossible to flash the bios since it will risk in damaging the motherboard I think. So, I'll most likely get it checked out by micro center and hope they charge around 20-30 dollars less than 50 atleast.
You should be able to refresh the BIOS without powering up the system. This chip includes a flashback feature, meaning you can update it using a USB drive while the board is connected to a power source. I previously shared a guide on how to do this, but please refer to the specific motherboard manual for accurate naming conventions.
Hey update!, so I did the bios it went successful but the same issue is still present when I turn on the case it stays on for 15 seconds turns off then on and the same process. I even removed one cpu cable from the psu since I had 2 plugged in but no difference. Guessing micro center is the only option?
Hey there! The bios worked fine, but the case still stays on for 15 seconds before turning off and back on repeatedly. I even took out one CPU cable from the PSU since there were two plugged in, but it didn’t make a difference. It seems like the micro center might be the issue—maybe it’s entering a power cycle or boot loop. Updated June 10, 2022 by dharmik
