I'm having trouble making my PC stop stuttering during games.
I completed a DDU and set up the latest AMD driver, but I still have some concerns since I didn’t use safe mode or disconnect my internet during the installation. I’m also seeing posts about problems with the newest AMD driver on older hardware—should I go back to a previous version?
What is the optimal method for updating chipset drivers, considering the usual process of installing through AMD's drivers?
Problem resolved. Uncertain about the exact steps that fixed it, but my games now run much smoother. I just played GTA 5 for around 30 minutes with only a brief stutter right after loading. Here’s a detailed list of what I did:
Updated motherboard BIOS to the latest version
Updated Chipset Drivers to the latest version
(problem still occurred at that stage)
Applied AMD Cleanup utility and DDU to uninstall graphical drivers, also disabled automatic updates to stop Windows from installing new drivers
Switched back to AMD’s previous drivers 23.2.1 (didn’t install any new ones to avoid reprocessing)
Ensured RAM and CPU/GPU were set to stock configurations
Result: performance improved by 100X compared to before.
UPDATE: It turns out the issue was caused by using the compute option in adrenaline settings. I returned to compute mode after fixing it, and the stutter disappeared instantly. I also switched back to Graphical mode, which resolved the problem completely.
