I'm having trouble locating a Ryzen 6000 laptop that comes with a dedicated GPU.
I’m considering returning to school this Fall in the field of Computer Science and I need a laptop. The Ryzen 6000 mobile CPU just launched with enhanced IPC and a more efficient GPU RDNA2. I’m thinking about purchasing one since my main tasks will be academic work, programming, and occasionally light gaming, and RDNA2 seems ideal for that.
The challenge I face is finding a manufacturer offering a laptop with the 6000 series CPU but without a dedicated GPU. I’m looking at Dell as an example because their Inspiron lineup is popular for being lightweight, compact, and budget-friendly. The Inspiron models typically include the 5000 series CPU.
For instance, the Inspiron 15-3525 comes with a Ryzen 5825U (8 cores), 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD for around $685. The models with the 6000 series are usually the Alienware ones, which include dedicated GPUs and come at a much higher price. I’ve checked other brands too, but they don’t seem to have what I need.
Is it because the Ryzen 6000 mobile line is still new and manufacturers haven’t adopted it yet? Am I missing an affordable option that matches these specs without a dedicated GPU?
Ideally, I’d like a laptop with similar specifications to this Inspiron 15-3525 but featuring the 6000 series CPU and RDNA2.
It's perfectly typical for high-end items to launch first. This is especially true when producers struggle to secure enough CPUs.
