Have you attempted to click Change Product Key and then re-enter your Windows product key? If not, selecting the Help button on the activation page will direct you to a live chat support feature. You should be able to request an agent to contact you there. I've used this method before and it worked after formatting.

This computer is a custom-built one, so I’m not sure about the license key. I’ll check the live chat option later to find out more.

They can be more challenging, and at times unrecoverable. When facing issues, it's best to reach out to MS support for guidance. However, OEM keys tend to be very inexpensive, which means I generally consider them temporary use only.

These products include original manufacturer keys, valid exclusively for that device and not transferable. The "account link" is only functional with authorized retail licenses.
