Hello there! My dad still has an old Toshiba Satellite Pro M50 Laptop. I’m trying to return it to its original settings and possibly donate it, but I can’t reset it myself. The laptop doesn’t have a factory reset option in the settings, and a search suggests holding the ‘0’ key while turning it on to trigger a reset sound. This hasn’t worked after several attempts, and no reset appears. I’m stuck—would you have any suggestions? 🤗

I’m uncertain about the steps, since there appear to be no reset choices and the internet connection has failed due to a Wi-Fi issue. It seems the system is stuck on Windows XP.

You might want to reuse it instead, as a charity shop likely wouldn’t accept it. If you bring it to an Apple Store, they offer free recycling, whereas other locations might require a fee.

The factory Reset partition probably disappeared over time. Sadly, even a donation would be hard to justify due to its age, weak performance, and existing issues like poor WiFi. Head to the recycling center.

Thanks for your responses, guys. I was thinking about whether it's worth attempting something with it, but it seems it's reached its limit. I'll send it up to the high-tech realm in the sky (the skip).
