I have been attempting to download AAR but without any success. It looks like parts of the app aren't being added to my registry. Also, during the download, the AAR icon appears on my desktop with a blue and yellow shield. This shield relates to UAC permissions, but I'm unsure how to handle it. When trying to open the app, nothing happens; opening a specific PDF doesn't work either. I've contacted Adobe, but they aren't offering any assistance since I'm just trying to use their free app. (Why would they provide an app if they won't support it properly?) I would really appreciate any guidance to resolve this issue. Thank you in advance.

I understand your concern, but I'm still curious about the reason behind the issue.

capture a screenshot of the blue and yellow shield, upload it to imgur.com, and share the link.
maybe there was a firewall or malware scan?
did you uncheck the box for the McAfee "addon"?

For software installation, administrative rights are required.
Limited user access may prevent installation.
The installer should show up in the Downloads folder (not on the desktop).
reader[xxx]_install.exe"
A screenshot would clarify the problem.

Did you create the shortcut yourself?
Could be some malware masquerading as shortcut to Acrobat.
Locate your downloads folder and find
reader[xxx]_install.exe
Run it and install Acrobat.
And delete that shortcut with blue/yellow shield.
