IM GETTING 50 FPS IN GTA V
You're approaching the target. You should be reaching 85-110 fps without adjusting many other settings. I'm not sure why you're not hitting it after setting MSAA to x4. I still suggest using my guide—it only increases fps a bit. Still need a reason why you can't get 85-110 fps in story mode with x4 MSAA. Also, I added Post FX and a few other options for your consideration.
this guide was really helpful. the main issue was MSAA 8x, but I adjusted Extended Distance Scaling to 0% and set shadow quality to high. now my average is around 85 to 90, with peaks up to 110 and dips to 65. you're the best, thanks for the support!
I'm pleased to hear that. For another boost around 8 or more frames per second, if you haven't already adjusted this, go to Advanced settings and adjust Extended Shadows Distance to 0% while turning off High Resolution Shadows. This change won't visibly affect visual quality, but High Resolution Shadows might. It mainly matters when examining shadows and analyzing them closely. For another boost of around 7 frames per second, under Advanced Settings, enable High Detail Streaming While Flying and turn Long Shadows OFF. You won't see a visual difference, but you should notice the improvement.
Personally, I keep all Advanced settings off since it's hard to see the difference and you get a significant FPS increase. Here are my settings in case you want extra boosts. I've spent many hours fine-tuning them for maximum FPS without sacrificing quality.
Shader Quality should remain at Very High, as I prefer the highest possible FPS. The boost here is only about 2-3 FPS. Particles Quality can stay at High or Very High if you enjoy that detail in GTA 5, but it only adds a 3-4 FPS gain. I don't mind particles much and they're the only setting in GTA 5 that I have to keep at Normal due to CPU usage. With my system's bottleneck, setting it to Normal is essential. It's a minor hit for me, only 3-4 FPS.
Reflection MSAA should always be turned off. You can double it if you want, but it only reduces FPS by 1-2, which won't be noticeable. I'm not sure why this setting exists in the game.
Keep in mind these settings are optimized for 1440p. Since you're on 1080p, you might notice a slight visual difference somewhere in the game. Let me know what you find, and I'll advise on adjustments. You're welcome—I've already covered the x2 versus x4 options for you.
