I don't grasp why individuals turn off auto updates. Just turn them off and install security patches manually as needed. Working with Windows 10 LTSB 1607 has never caused problems—so far. Most people surprise me, which is odd since I should be familiar with it now...

you don’t need to rely on it, it uses no space at all, plus the programs I’m referring to are definitely very outdated—those are enterprise-level systems and hardware that could still be made today. Even my newer Brother MFC-7360n printer with a web interface performs best in Internet Explorer and avoids Chrome or other browsers

Absolutely, it makes sense to point the finger at Microsoft whenever things go wrong. Honestly, I find it hard to grasp why people jump onto such simplistic trends. If you're upset, make sure it's about a real problem instead of just venting for fun.

Checking for issues and whether it continues trying. Diable Windows Update, no need to update—just run once every two months or so.
